everyone is selling something nowadays. every app's feed is 50% blatant ads and 30% paid sponsorships. every self-care app hides most of its function behind a paywall. every mobile game has a premium subscription that makes the basic app practically useless.
and it wouldn't be that big of a problem if everything wasn't a fucking paid subscription!! i tried to use a couples' journalling app today and not only were most of the functions paid, but it cost over $100 a year!!! what??? who on earth would pay that much for a single app??
anyway, shit like that gives me a greater appreciation for the internet beyond the app store, namely spacehey and neocities. i can't code for shit but it's refreshing to be on a side of the internet that's not constantly searching my pockets for loose change.
i'm tired of money. i'm tired of capitalism. i'm tired of the constant struggle for dopamine. i'm so over it.

seriously, im thinking about going back to dvd's because I remember when everything was either on Netflix or available for free ;-; now all the shows you like are spread out across like 7 streaming services, all of which need a subscription.
there's also this new trend of YouTubers moving to their own platforms (ex. dropout, 2nd try) and its not like I don't enjoy their content but.... just use Paypal man, no one wants to spend 5.99 a month on videos we previously got for free (flashbacks to the watcher incident...)
dude dvds and piracy are the way to go
