My experience with AI is a bit of a mixed one. While I’m a firm believer that we shouldn’t let AI do our work as designers, and when I mean work I mean actually designing something.
But I also think it’s okay to use AI to come up with ideas/ help with research when our mind isn’t really working, being creative every day is hard! I won’t lie and say I haven’t used it to help me with things like that, but we need to draw the line when we are using AI to create things (as a final product) for us.
Las semester I had a class in which the use of AI was encouraged, I thought it was a cool idea at first, but it quickly gave me a bad taste in my mouth. This is because people would use AI to actually do the assignment for them. It felt really unfair that I was spending hours creating something that actually had meaning when at the same time someone would just pull up to class with something that AI generated for them in 3 minutes and getting praised for it. This just makes me sound really bitter, but I guess I am.
I could go on and on about this, but I don’t want to spend so much time talking about something that kinda pisses me off.
