Went and saw the new "Reagan" movie from the guy that provided you with - "Bratz", "Baby Geniuses", "Orphan Horse" and rest of the Hallmark movie genre, Sean McNamara. Unfortunately, money was spent and time was wasted. For a 136 minute movie it sure felt 3 times longer and that's from someone who sat through 3 hours of a random man foil his life around a bomb (and I will do it again.).
A review (by Belle Roger) of the movie in Letterboxd considered this "Republican propaganda that exists to make people vote red later this year and tell people that republicans are the most wonderful people on this earth." though I agree with the statement I'd like to add that it's also general American propaganda. (or so to say republican = American propaganda)
This has been more about the USA and USSR than the actual movie, the movie's bad, there were times when I felt the composition of a shot was badly done, random clips of just stuff popped up here and there - like the clip of a book notation, maybe it had a purpose but we could have lived without it, everything was blatantly propagandist, bad CGI and the part with Viktor and the lead guy were just there to either praise him or tell not show.
It had this stupid trope where his first wife didn't believe in him
and was the against the idea of him in politics and the commies(with
their bad accents) were all "OH, нет! He's too much of a danger to us!!
What must we do! Damn these Americans." like they had nothing better to
do than to sit around the TV and go bonkers over an actor. Perhaps he
was a bigger threat compared to the others out of all the presidents, he
was the most open about being against the USSR. The Soviets had more
bombs than them, why'd they give a fuck who sat their ass on the seat;
they have enough ego to fuel a damn train. Anyhow the movie makes out Reagan to be
this all good, christian, cool guy. Oppenheimer tried to poison his
teacher (+big ass bomb) and yet I felt some remorse for him, but for the
way Reagan was presented I felt nothing, I wasn't even glad bad things
happened to him.
I get the budget for the movie's very much smaller in comparison to "Oppenheimer" and I didn't expect it to be on the level of "Oppenheimer" but save your skills for "Baby Geniuses and the cosmic cow" or something of the sort not political cinema.
"These people are forgetting that Americas the greatest country in the world!" says Ronald Reagan as I (a Latvian) sit and watch. From a European perspective the lengths that American patriotism goes is mental, a country praising itself and it's presidents for being the best whilst around 43% out of 46 have had attempted or successful assassinations targeted at them, yet continue to encourage guns by the same people that were shot. It's pure idiocracy. Then again these people are so used to having a good ol' 6.5mm rifle at the back of the garage that if you even attempt to take them away you'll get another 1920 with the exception of illegal weapons rather than alcohol.
"We own guns for protection." I've lived in a country where guns aren't free to buy and sell around and haven't been since ever I have known, the last time I've heard of a gun be used was an attack rather a defense. Anyone with a guns is going to use it, the more people have guns the more people are going to use them. To legally own a gun in Latvia means annual health evaluation and a descriptive use of why and how a gun is going to be used, nevertheless if there is a rule it can be broken, people will go around and sell and buy illegally; that count is minimal and should be regulated.
Back from sidetrack, before I say anything I am for the idea/concept of Communism and Marxism, but I am not a big cheer for the Soviet Union; bunch of horrible shit happened for truly unnecessary reasons (especially during Stalin's time), and the whole concept of Marx's ideas was executed poorly and aggressively.
The USA is really religious, I don't blame them they don't have anything else anyways, they took out the most interesting part of the lands history when they started thinking the place is rip-off India. Communism in simple words is against the governing of the church. In the movie it's Reagan sitting and shedding a tear because "Oh, no, how can someone reject Jesus. 😢", like they're living in the medieval times. The right wing folks don't seem to like this anti-religious way of thinking as well as not getting to keep their individuality as an "American citizen", this way of anti-communist thinking has them saying that "exchange stability, full employment and social security." are all bad things when all they listed are wonderful concepts. Am I meant to say "How dare I get all my human rights met, curse the commies!" fuck good working conditions, equal wage and a warm home, am I right?
Hey, capitalism has it's benefits, you can own the new "Apple Vision Pro" headset, but the only thing you'll be eating for a month are packed noodles, sweet.
I am open to hearing what others have to say as long as you're not here to argue rather educate.
This is more of a free writing exercise for me and so marks, commas, full stops might be incorrectly used.
