it seriously baffles me. sorry but ur dni blog nobody's gonna see is not gonna stop a racist from following you..? see the great thing about the internet is that you can choose your own experience! just block and move on instead of expecting someone to cater the experience for you.
not only that but if someone is confident enough to publically talk about how racist they are or how homophobic they are then nothing is stopping them from interacting with u lol

Realest thing i've seen. Also the people who unironically say "scenecore" make me cry. I would put them on a DNI list, but that would just be dumb.
REAL I hate "scenecore" it's not even real. it's just people who are roleplaying what they think a scene kid is and refuse to acknowledge the actual subculture.
scene is NOT just a million accessories in eyebleeding colors and unreadable typing quirks and 1NV4D3R Z1M XDDXDXD. shared a room with my older sister during her highschool years when scene was Actually a thing. so even if I didnt live through it myself I know from her lolol

as someone who has used DNI lists in the past, ill explain why I've used them here!
I understand fully that saying DNI will not make people I do not want to interact with not interact, I see it as a pre-warning. like hey, if you interact and you're on my DNI list I will block you. I've used it for simpler things, like people who ship things that make me uncomfortable (for example, shadamy or sonamy shippers!)
I completely understand your stance on the topic though, as DNI lists do not necessarily work :") I'll probably do something like a BYI in the future instead!!
it's nice to get input from the other side! I can understand it to a degree for things like ships of the fandom ur in, but for others I'm baffled. a byi makes alot more sense

real AND based AND why i don't listen to them unless its a "dni if adult/minor" IF i actually see that that's a dni the person has. I am in that middle ground where i'm literally closer being an adult then I am being a minor, so i kind of have the to-myself-rule of "if your -15 please respectfully dni :)!"

saying minors/adults dni *is* different from 'ermm dni racists!!' as one is just a form of virtue signaling because obviously any normal person doesnt want a bigot to interact with them. whereas age group dni is a serious boundary. at the same time saying dni doesnt actually mean those people *will* dni
the amount of 18+ accounts I've seen having to make posts about 12-14yos following them is insane.
it falls into a gray area in my opinion. I think that if you believe saying 'age group dni' actually stops them you're delusional. It's a reasonable boundary to need, but at the same time you need to practice some regulation and learn to block people

As an avid user of the recent blogs page dni is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. They clog up space in most recent so it’s harder to see new interesting posts. EVEN IF I was a racist transphobic anti lgbt minor when would I see a dni list unless I clicked on your profile. Which I don’t do when interacting with posts.
In my opinion if you have to have a dni list just put it in your about me section on your page. Then it won’t show up in recent posts which is really my only problem with them. Plus (I haven’t checked) I’m pretty sure dni lists get buried under your other posts any way unless you pin it, I think. And not everyone remembers to pin it.
Dni lists also annoy me because it reeks of main character syndrome. It feels like someone flinging open a door to a common area and screaming about all the their personal preferences. Stop posting this garbage and just put it ON YOUR ABOUT SECTION. Which is what that’s for.
Rip I wrote an essay. Dni lists are the only thing that annoys me on this site so I have more opinions on it than I thought.

I think warnings are good. Like if you don't wanna say your age but you specify you're a minor so some ppl don't accidentally frq you. Or I've seen some people put that they make adult jokes occasionally. So like warnings or "byi/before you interact" is fine. But like saying "DNI homophobes!!!" Isn't just gonna magically make them go away.

a dni isn't some magic warding sigil, it's doing the same thing as everything else. that would not stop an adult from sending a frq or even being creepy.
honestly I dont think anyone under 15 should be on social sites, and even that's pushing it.
not to mention most adults wont want to interact with kids anyway. unless they're creepers. which brings me back to my original point of saying 'erm dni!!' will do nothing. the popularization of dni lists (among other things) has done so much harm to internet safety it's kinda gross. I have thoughts on that as well
