Christmas is overrated.
If ur not a believer, yes, it is. It's the most consumistic holiday. The "be a good person on Christmas" thing is... i mean, people should be good everyday. Plus it isn't a happy holiday. For mentally ill people, it's horrible, especially for who deals with depression. U see people so happy all the time and they force u to be happy, that u just feel worse. I never understood the love for Christmas. I'd say the only good thing about it are the soft, slow and kinda melancholic christian songs, or John Lennon's "war is over", but ofc Americans don't know about them, they just blast "jingle bells" and the rock version of it, that's it. And the fact is that, weirdly, unlike everyother holiday you are OBLIGED to like it, other way u are a "cynical Grinch" that likes to spoil the fun.
Instead, do you know a holiday that is WAY better and cooler?
Halloween.
Halloween is just amazing. Sure, there is a bit of consumism in it too but yk it happends with all kinds of holidays, even tho Christmas in particular is the most exploited from brands etc. It is a fun, silly holiday, the movies are awesome, there are candies, you dress up, (it's an occasion for cosplay) the spooky atmosphere is great and it's the time when, traditionally, i can chill in my room and re-watch Over The Garden Wall.
In conclusion, Halloween >>> Christmas. I said what i said.
