SONIC MOVIE 3 TRAILER

OKAY so this morning the trailer for Sonic 3 dropped finally and i watched it with my boyfriend and want to share my thoughts

THIS DOES HAVE SPOILERS FOR THE ACTUAL MOVIE BECAUSE IM GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT LEAKED STORYBOARDS FROM A WHILE AGO SO FAIR WARNING

im sorta gonna be going through the whole thing as i rewatch it and share my thoughts as things happen in the trailer.

1. the "in my lungs" joke made me laugh

2. GUN has an entire island JUST for containing shadow and that's very funny to me, but it also sorta fits my headcanon that shadow landed in the ocean when maria sent him to earth. idk i guess im just imagining they find his little escape pod down at the bottom of the ocean and decide "hey sure let's just settle down right here and capture him"

3. im very curious if the commander in the movie will be the same guy from shadow's solo game. sega hasnt ever retconned that game but they do tend to distance themselves from it, so idk if theyd really want to get characters like that involved in the movies. i do know that the black arms technically exist already as a mercenary group (seen in Knuckles the show) but sonic later refers to shadow as a "rogue alien" so im wondering if the movie is actually gonna include the black arms race of aliens as well somehow. 

4. hearing the commander guy say "security breach" made me out loud say "like fnaf"

5. the shot of shadow punching through the glass of his funny little tube is SO PRETTY??

6. hooray!! name dropping team sonic (possible sonic heroes movie next?)

7. shadow being a sad wet cat made me giggle

8. the actress they chose for maria is really cute! im excited to see her and shadow interact (and obviously im very very curious if we'll get to see her get shot or not)

9. the shot of shadow and (presumably) maria and gerald has me very intrigued. if shadow's present for when GUN takes custody of gerald and is still on the ark when maria dies then are they ditching the escape pod bit? i really really hope not because that's one of my favorite scenes in sonic lore lmao

10. THE SHOT OF SHADOW STANDING ON THE CAR IS (I THINK) BOTH A REFERENCE TO SONIC ADVENTURES 2 AND THAT ONE CUTSCENE IN SHADOW'S GAME AND AAAAAAAHHHHHH I STARTED CRYING RIGHT HERE

11. i was honestly somewhat skeptical of keanu reeves as shadow but hearing the few lines he has in the trailer put me at ease about it. he's so so cute as shadow's va and im VERY eager to see if sonic points out how much he sounds like "national treasure" keanu.

12. shadow kicking tails, continuing the gag. (in multiple sonic media there's at least one scene of shadow BRUTALLY beating up tails with no remorse at all and it's comical every time)

13. very interesting to me that sonic doesnt seem to want to fight shadow? idk how theyre gonna explain that lol

14. the shot of shadow skating across the water while the camera stabilizes on his head freaks me out a little lol. like it's a LITTLE uncanny but i dont hate it, he looks cute no matter what

15. THEY RECREATED THAT ONE SHOT FROM SHADOW'S GAME AS HE KICKS THE GUN SOLDIER AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

16. tom is gonna be working for GUN? or will at least wear a GUN uniform at some point? of course the cop would join the corrupt evil fucking government military group :eyeroll:

17. SHADOW JUST LOOKS SOOOO CUTE IM SO SO SO HAPPY

18. the scene where there's a crazy black hole or whatever and team sonic is tied up, i had to go back and look at again because for a moment it looked like knuckles was amy and i. didnt know how to feel about that. 

19. fat eggman looks great but his bellybutton does look admittedly strange. also is stone LIVING with him? when will they finally get a kiss scene?

20. EGGMAN STRIPPING THE SHIRT OFF OF STONE?? STONE DOESNT EVEN FLINCH HE JUST LETS IT HAPPEN???? ARE YOU FUCKING FOREAL?????? WHEN WILL THEY KISS???? 

21. SHADOW GETS HIS MOTORCYCLE AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

22. if keanu does that low emo voice the entire time he voices shadow it'll be absolutely adorable. i stand completely corrected about keanu reeves being the voice of shadow.

23. how much of this movie is gonna take place in japan? shadow meets the others for the first time in japan, and the chao garden mascot restaurant thing is japanese. 

24. also the chaos finally making their way into canon via japanese mascot cafe is. honestly very very perfect though i am a touch sad they aren't their own little critters. 

25. AKIRA SLIDE!!!!!!!

26. so. eggman meeting gerald is VERY interesting. this is where i discuss the storyboard leaks.

from what we saw in the storyboards about time travel and the ark, it seems like this pretty much confirms that time travel will play HEAVILY into the story here. fucking around with time traveling back in time could potentially mean.. um..... traveling to the future......
which would mean........
we might see silver in the after credits scene.........

also this is somewhat unrelated but im eager to see jim carey's acting as gerald. my favorite movie he stars in is Series of Unfortunate Events in which he plays count olaf, and it seems like gerald is gonna be somewhat similar to that character. im excited to see him! i do weirdly like gerald robotnik a LOT so this is all very exciting. 

overall im SUPER excited for this movie and i CANNOT wait to projective vomit on the back of a child's head as soon as shadow is visible on screen (because i WILL be seeing it on opening night at a theater and i WILL hurl with excitement). one really specific thing id is if they have some sort of 50s music play during the scenes with maria? idk that's a really weird thing to want from this movie but sega has to cater to my wants and needs because i am shadow's biggest fan.
