The Elf I Wish Had Stayed

I get a book

From high on a shelf

I open it up

And out pops an elf

I take a step back

And fall on my bed

"I'm from the land

Of dreams" he said

I grab a book

And open it wide

Out comes a griffin

Flying high

"Don't be afraid"

Said the elf so small

"I'll be with you

Through it all"

He takes my hand

And takes me outside

We mount the griffin

And go for a fly

We go up high

Above the clouds

I just hope

We never go down

We start to land

He leads me to a door

I just wish

We could've done more

I lay down

And fall asleep quick

I wake up

To my lights on and off flick

I remember

Where I am

I wish my story

Didn't end.
