I don't understand my feelings

Why is it so hard to understand yourself? Why is it difficult to distinguish love from simple affection? I don't understand how many emotions feel. I often get angry and laugh and cry. However, if I need to go deeper than this, then I am a complete stranger to myself. I want to know the real me and not the image I invent.
