Talking a little about Outlook (new)

Hello, today I'm going to talk about the new version of Outlook that comes in Windows 11 by default, some things about this new application and others like my opinion and that of other people, since yes, some have liked this application a lot and others have totally hated it and have wanted to return to the Legacy version of mail, calendar and contacts, so let's start talking about this new version

What is Outlook (new)?

The new version of Outlook brings many new things along with a more modern and fluid design which combines much better with Windows 11 and the rounded edges, basically this new version of Outlook is going to replace mail, calendar and contacts, which are 3 applications that come by default in Windows 10 and 11 and which have been accompanying us since 2012 with the arrival of Windows 8, but let's go to talk about that later

Mail, Calendar, and Contacts

To understand about this new version of Outlook it is necessary to know about the existence of these 3 applications. Mail Calendar and Contacts, also known as Mail and Calendar is a Windows application which was created in 2012 with Windows 8 where as their names say each one does its function, mail manages emails in a simple way, the calendar can add events and reminders and in the contacts you can add some contacts and call them from the computer.

These 3 applications come in a single one or rather in a package where if you are going to uninstall one you will have to uninstall all 3, but the fact is that these applications were the most popular, the most used, where mostly mail and calendar were used, many people use the mail application to manage their email and the calendar application to manage their events,  if I'm not wrong these were one of the most used applications in Windows and well today we can open them, but here is a problem, when we try to open email, calendar or contacts they automatically take us to the Microsoft Store, directly to the Outlook (new) product and where it is automatically downloaded.

This for many people was very annoying since today there are many people who continue to use these applications and when you use mail, calendar and contacts, everything is fine, you already have everything synchronized and everything perfect, while with this problem now this new version of Outlook was going to be automatically installed where everything had to be configured again and if you had a bad computer then this was going to be to go very slow because of things like timing.

Design

If you opened mail, calendar or contacts you were going to realize that these applications had a design that today could be classified as "old" a design which actually gives me a little nostalgic, a design which reminds me of Windows 10 in its versions of 2018 or 2017 approximately, those designs where everything was flatter, a more grayish color, some darker tones, simpler, without rounded edges those designs to give you the idea a very nice design for some people but today Windows 11 has a very modern design which is called fluent design then these three applications did not combine with the new style of Windows. And Microsoft instead of updating mail, calendar and contacts decided to make a new application which would be this new version of Outlook which would bring a more appropriate design for these new times. 

The new Outlook

This new Outlook was announced in a youtube video along with Microsoft copilot but the thing is that this new version of Outlook unifies these 3 applications mail calendar and contacts all in one application which as I said has a more modern design plus it supposedly has integration with artificial intelligence and Microsoft copilot but if I'm honest I really do not know where this function is hidden AI because I've been using this application for a while and I have not found these artificial intelligence functions perhaps it is still in preview version or just not yet for the public.

Criticism

This new version of Outlook has brought a lot of complaints and criticisms from people, I have been researching for a while and yes, in some things like on reddit a lot of people are complaining about this, this new application from Microsoft, and some of them are:

"Mail, calendar or contacts cannot be opened in a separate window, which complicates the work."

"Some design things like the close restore and minimize buttons sometimes do not appear or are simply not clickable as if they were not a button."

"When I wanted to search for something in the e-mail, it does not search well because I wanted to search for some things and I could not find it, but by searching manually I found what I wanted."

Opinion

I have really been using this application for a while since I switched to Windows 11 I have been using it but when I went back to Windows 10 then (I downloaded it because it was downloaded automatically) I started to use it and I must say that it is an application that is not bad it is not perfect and if I found some flaws but it really is not bad its design seems very nice I have not used it much I have only sent an email and not much more since I do not usually use much the calendar mail and less the contacts but what little I have seen seems to me a good application but if there are some things that are not bad to bring for example from other versions of Outlook or mail, calendar and contacts and as I said before I have not found the functions of artificial intelligence and maybe when you're reading this and these functions are available but I really have not found anything like that I have not found anything to copilot to summarize the text and do not know if it is paid or not but I hope not because I would like to try these things

One thing I've just realized

While I was writing this text for this blog it occurred to me to open this new Outlook you know to find more things and see if I could comment something else but I realized one thing because I wanted to return to the Legacy version of calendar as that button is supposed to appear in the upper right corner of the screen just below the close button maximize and minimize then is a text that says new Outlook and if you click it then you get a window and you can return to the Legacy version of calendar mail and contacts but surprise there was not that button and I was really surprised because I do not know if it is a mistake or if it is a new update of this new Outlook because now thinking about it Microsoft may want you to stay in this new Outlook and never go back to that Legacy version of mail calendar contacts so yes gentlemen it seems that we can never again be in the Legacy version of mail calendar and contacts and we will have to settle for Outlook (new). There is nothing we can do
