friend roster

with lighter nights and longer days it gives me the opportunity to spend my days rambling. all this walking around though is giving me a lot of time alone with my thoughts. i once read that a person has a limited number of close friends and when they gain one they must lose another. i am sat in a pub where one week ago i made a mistake that cost me a friend. i am at peace with the loss now but for several days i mourned. however where i lost one friend i now know i can gain another. i thought at first that having to replace one friend with another made no sense because true friendship isnt something that can be switched out easily but  i think i know what they meant now. not that its only possible to care about a finite number of people but instead there is a limit to the amount of peoples needs you can put above your own before it breaks you. so yes i may have lost a friend but i have also gained time and energy to learn and connect with someone new who might just need it.
