goth/punk ppl and tiktok

so, hi
just saw a post titled "tiktok trad goth is not real trad goth" by ravenn and i can fully see where they're coming from, and, i wanna stress this, i DO fully agree with the whole post, this entry isn't contradicting them in any way <3

i just wanted to add that actual goth/punk people exist on the app, the ones that aren't in the subculture solely for the looks OR solely for the music, but those that hold actual believes and morals that are bases to the goth and punk communities
i'd say i've been getting a lot of content as such and it's really good! some of the videos explain the whole point of those subcultures, diving into the beginnings of those and the basic knowledge about them, other may be just vids of ppl diy-ing their clothes or showing off their makeup
and i still know that there are lots of people that pretend to be a part of those subcultures, while having contradicting believes to them, which gives tiktok a really bad look, lol
i'm just happy that there is a platform for ppl to share their love for the subcultures they are a part of!

however, yes, i would like to say that seeing a shit ton of people claim that they're "punk" and buying "crust pants" is absolutely ridiculous and drives me mad BONKERS.
