A lot of things are happening right now, but lets keep it simple here. Just translated my last entry, despite knowing that it isnt 100% translatable because in Brazil it is considered sometimes cringy to use a lot of English terms (F Cartoonizando), but this obviously isnt the case if you are already talking in English...
Talking about difficulties of translation, tomorrow or overmorrow I am going to play the largely awaited Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Beyond the fact that it is an incredible game and was clearly remade by people that loved it, it was also interesting to see the whole discussion about Vivian, how can a single character be able to show so many cultural differences between countries? Not only that, but the fact that it was unintentional is even more interesting, since I dont believe that Nintendo would purposefully throw itself in a controversial topic.
Did you know that in Japanese there are many ways to say "i"? Yep, and each one is interpreted in a slightly different manner. The scale goes from pretty blunt to really delicate and, since there are also gender norms and expectations in Japan, indirectly this scale is also about most masculine to most feminine (but this doesnt mean that a guy cant use the feminine one or viceversa, it only means that guys and girls use more the ones that, in general, are expected from them (but this is changing, girls, for example, have been increasingly more and more using the neutral option)).
Probably you already noticed that I am not what you would call a specialist on this matter, but I can put a link here if you found it interesting and want to read more about it: https://www.tofugu.com/japanese/queer-japanese/.
Also, since we are already talking about translation difficulties (or, what would be said in Brazil, taking advantage of the hook), sorry if something was poorly written here or in another post, sometimes the "right" word doesnt come that naturally.
Music right now: Doopliss Battle Theme.
