i kinda wanna add powers to my oc story

but not like a serious magic system. more like a scott pilgrim style thing where its never explained and its really stupid and bizzare but can still be important 2 story beats. i just feel if this is going 2 be rpg game based it needs SOME sort of magic powers in it. like even omori which is the grounding piece of media that inspired NEOPHOBIA has some sort of magic in it. even if it isnt real. also need other elements to pull in the 4th wall "you are being controlled by a higher being" stuff. 

okay so! one thing is that crazy ass battles happen a lot in the story. but thats only between the teen characters and it might be a "canadian thing" as barely explained in the story. (mc moves from 'murica 2 maple syrup country at the start of the story) and its also because maplewood is so damn small that theres literally nothing for the teens to do expect fight with each other. 
I know none of u guys will understand what im talkin about but this is more notes for me 2 write down

so mabel, the dead best friend one. her power was probably less easy 2 explain. more just singing very beautifully and hypnotically. something 2 to with memories as well. sort of like a reoccurring motif? and kind of like a siren. i imagine when her and audity were children she would sing audity to sleep. like when particular memories happen or moments that relate to mabel there will be some sort of singing sound. like a hum. maybe it would play in a cutscene or in the background. and when the hum stops, audity knows shes really gone. 

Now DREAMWORLD mabel is a different story. shes not a real person. therefor her powers and abilites are purely reflected off of how audity views her, and the players actions. but she creates stuff, and her powers are memory based as well. near the end of the story i imagine her going off the rails in terms of making sense, becuase audity's connection with mabel is being strained by the players existance. shes forgetting who mabel was. and the end of the story is getting her back. 

audity's power is never shown until the near end of the series, but its based on change.  which is why its shown as butterflies! which is pretty overdone but idc. it would probably look like the stress butterflies from steven universe? and when its revealed it would be kind of like that one scene from lain 

anyway the change its all about how shes accepting the new and is facing everything head on. the first point it is shown is when shes unconscious in her headspace, but she could probably do it to some degree in real life too. 

Bonnie, the first important side character we meet in the story had near to no powers! becuase, well.. she doesnt really know who she is and what she wants to be entirely. her character arc is coming to terms with the fact that shes kind of falling behind all her friends and maturing or whatever. but she doesnt get powers until adult hood probably. And River, another important side character kind of doesnt have powers either. shes extremely intelligent and a piano prodigy so you can argue she already has powers. 

Maxxie, the most "edgy" and the other exetremely traumatized but in a different way so audity and them bond. they have powers. its kinda basic, but its prolly like hobie brown from spiderverse or the bass battle bit from scott pilgrim where they use their electric guitar has a weapon. but they also have a bat becuase bats are cool and they wanna seem intimidating. 

That was the main group. lets talk about the side side characters. so the two side characters Kat and Luci are a duo of really cringe teens that play this persona. Kat is a trans girl and decided to make a "distraction" so that she wouldnt get misgendered at her new school. she made herself pretend to be a half cat girl in front of class mates by wearing a cat tail and ears 2 school and lying. just so that they would think shes a loser instead of thinking shes a boy. which SOMEHOW worked. anyway she found luci whos a trans boy and convinced him to pretend to do the same thing except to be a vampire. 

anyway they like starting battles with other kids to test them. Kat already can move her fake ears and tail around but thats never explained. im not fully sure on her powers or attacks but it would be something mad mew mew based. she could probably daze or confuse people? like say a weird phrase and then they're out of loop for the next few rounds. and Luci, they carry around cranberry juice and i like to imagine he attacks by just throwing his "blood" on people. but he also probably claims he's "psychic". i think he can actually float or fly a little though!  

anyway as you can tell im still working on it lol
