So I worked on my current profile's layout for about a week. Let's talk about how it looks, the user experience, and how it can be improved.
First of all, the layout's appearance is inarguably low-grade; the contrast, hiearchy, and typography have little effort put into them. The primary color only appears on the lower section, which you need to scroll down to on most devices. The font variety is low and very unappealing, as there is only a thin type for body content and a bold one for headers and highlighted information. Not to mention that the spacing was not considered while designing this layout, so it's very monotonous in that regard.
Now the user experience is the main concern in this new project, so in order to improve upon that, I would need to find out what's wrong with its predecessor.
Based on this image, the first elements that draw the viewer's attention are the blank space between the username and information section, or the navigation menu. Ideally, the hero section should immediately capture the end-user's focus and convey the primary information about the person they are looking at. To address this, I am currently designing ways to create an effective hero section for a user profile rather than a brand website's hero section.
With this in mind, I have to go back to working on the basic design of this new layout. See you guys later.
