summer job!!

i'm getting my summer job back!

so last summer, my first job was this internship cleaning the computers in schools around my town. after another internship ($12 an hour for pretty bad work) and a 5 month gap since december when it ended, i've been jonesing for another job, whether it be a temp position or not. i applied to like thirty different places over the course of a few months and only got a single interview with pizza hut who proceeded to never talk to me again. i will admit, my interview skills were pretty dookie and i know i didn't come across very professional or capable lmao.

the universe has a funny way of making what my path is clear with how easy things seem to come together. with my first job experience i really just fell into it, barely, the only reason i even had a chance was because people had dropped out. but it was easy as pie. the job itself was incredibly lax. then, with my second internship at a different company, it was easy getting in, but really showed me what my work was worth. cleaning up after, feeding, walking, and scrubbing the enclosures of animals at our local shelter. i smelled some of the worst smells one could smell (smellsmellsmell) while there. touched a lot of biohazards too. and was frequently overpowered and beat up by crazy energetic and/or heavy dogs i was walking. i am proud i did it but most every other official employee (18+) was making $15 as a starting rate. many official employees talked to me, a 16 year old then, about how kinda crummy it is there, and their eyes popped when i told them my payrate. money is money lol. anyways, i missed the opportunity for coming back to the second internship because i'd done my time there and wanted a longterm position, buuut the job hunt was brutal and as i said, i got nothin'

so i go ahead and reapply for the computer cleaners, and everything came smooth as butter, it was crazy. today they showed up to my school to interview people and i nearly poo'd myself realizing i didn't look professional, nor had my resume. i show up, everyone else is nicely dressed, resume in tow, and i sit there tensely while the main manager talks. they realize i was there last year and i had already emailed them the info they needed, and let me go! no interview needed! i was accepted! had to shake hands just to seal the deal tho.

also, they upped it to $15 an hour from $12 !!! thats crazysauce?? for the same job?? i'm so jazzed. it feels great when things work out after a bad luck streak.
