I am a hugeeee music fan and there's some bands and artists out there that I don't think get enough recognition so here we go! Also, there's no specific genre or anything, my music taste is pretty varied. (I won't be mentioning the more well known bands such as MCR, although they're my fav, everyone's already heard of them.)
1. Jack Off Jill - A female punk/alt rock band active in the late 90's/early 2000s. They have a really cool sound, I actually found them through Poppy's cover of their song "Fear of Dying" (The original is way better) and fell in love with them. I'd reccomend starting with their album Clear Hearts Grey Flowers. My favourite songs from them are Nazi Halo, Angels Fuck Devils Kiss and Cinnamon Spider.
2. Jazmin Bean - Okay, this is a little more in a different direction, but I absolutely adore Jazmin. They just released their debut album Traumatic Livelihood this year and it's on of my favourite records of all time. They write really poetic and almost fantasy-esque lyrics and I can't even think of a genre to really describe their music. It's kind of pop/rock with their earlier songs having more of an alt metal type of feel. For songs, my personal favs are Best Junkie You Adore, RU Looking 4 Me Now, and Worldwide Torture.
3. Ladytron - An english female-led electropop band started in 1999. You've probably heard their song "Seventeen" on tiktok, for me personally I learned about them because they had a song in Little Big Planet 2. They have a really dreamy sound. I'd recommend their albums Velocifero or Light and Magic.
4. Plumtree - They're a canadian indie rock band most well known for their song "Scott Pilgrim", which was Bryan Lee O'Malley's inspiration for the comic character. I obviously learned of them through SP but they're actually really amazing and you should listen to their album "Mass Teen Fainting"
5. The Distillers - An american punk rock band. I'm kind of a newer fan, so far I've only listened to their album "Coral Fang", but I love it so much! I get total vampire vibes from it. Check em out!
6. Pencey Prep - The punk band Frank Iero was fronting before they broke up and joined MCR. It suprises me how many people haven't heard of it, so totally check them out! I love it so much.
7. LeATHERMOUTH - A hardcore punk side project by none other than Frank Iero. They have super heavy lyrics and it's all really angry and just really cool. Fun fact: Frank was put on an FBI watchlist because of the song "I Am Going To Kill The President of the United States of America"...
And that's it! Hope you look into at least one of them, all super talented artists. I'm always looking for recommendations so feel free to leave themĀ in the replies! Love ya!
