How to be visual kei?

Hello everyone! >:) This is my second blog and I am going to explain a little about, in a few words, how to be part of the visual kei subculture. This is like a little guide so don't take it too seriously LOLL

First, what is visual kei? Visual kei, abbreviated as v-kei, is a Japanese subculture created during the 1980s, characterized mostly by extravagant makeup and hairstyles, in addition to the rock music that has been associated with this subculture since its creation. For more information, read my first blog :)

Before we start, I would like to say that there are no "rules" as such to being a visual, so feel free to experiment with all the characteristics of this subculture! =D Now, as you can imagine, this subculture is based on a person's aesthetics (dress, hairstyle, makeup...), however, many people believe that it is based on music, or that necessarily all vkei music is rock. , which is incorrect, because as I said, it is based on the visual aspect. There are many subgenres within visual kei (maybe I'll do a blog about that XD).

As contradictory as it may sound, clothing is not sooooo important, especially considering that there are many different subgenres in vkei. Personally, I think that the most distinctive thing about visual kei is its makeup and hairstyles. Now, I think it would be easier if you choose just one vkei subgenre, but like I said, feel free to experiment!! Once you've chosen the subgenres you like the most, try researching bands from those subgenres and basing your style on them. For example, if you like eroguro-kei, you can base your style on Dadaroma, if you like menhera-kei, you can base your style on Kaneto-juusei or Lyrica or if you like something more colorful like oshare-kei, you can base your style on An Cafe. If you are going to consider yourself a visual, I recommend knowing some bands and doing a little research on them, whether they are very well known or very little known (plus people won't call you "posser" LOLLL) Lastly, I want to clarify that I have seen a lot of people believing that visual kei is only for Japanese people, which is incorrect!!! Visual kei is for everyone, regardless of your birthplace, skin color, or things like that. Remember that you simply have to enjoy this great subculture and express yourself in your own way!!

That was all for this blog, thank you very much for reading! I hope you liked it <3
