Overconsumption is a serious thing. It's not normal to buy make-up or skincare products you already have but it's other brand. The same goes for clothes and food- you don't have to buy clothes that are trendy just to wear them once and then stop wearing it. The thing with food is that you don't have to buy tons of food that you can't eat and to let it expire. These things are for people that actually need them, not for the ones that just wonder how to spend their money.
I saw a reel on instagram that a woman was talking about overconsumption and i decided to read the comments. They were just terrible. People there were like "but it's cute and aesthetic", "you are boring and you don't get it" and stuff like that.
The thing i'm trying to say is that before buying something you should think if you actually need it or you just wanna be "interesting" and "aesthetic".

1. you are 100% right overconsumption is so terrible and unnecessary and the ways people try to justify it are getting straight-up outlandish at this point

STRONGLY AGREE! i hate those haul videos that have 400 clothes from like primark because its sooo bad? like first of all the clothes are ugly and second of all thats such a waste and the yall end up in charity shops.

so true, people just simply don't get it, or just want to follow others. it's just like, "what can you even do?" yk. people are always going to follow trends and there's always going to be overconsumption. omg i literally hate people so much!!

THIS. I overthink about consumption so much that I suffer seeing other people and I in a shopping center. I can't go. That is extreme. And I also get overstimulation. And I think we as people are the worst thing ever. And my thoughts turn super dark. Because I know it isn't ethical, even thought I really need the product or the clothing bc I can't keep with the one pant I own. And I prefer thrifting but my mother doesn't like it. And she forces me to go. So shopping centers are my living hell. Because I imagine the faces of the exploided people, the genocide funds, everything that's wrong in the process of the product I buy. And I see the people happily consuming, with huge bags in their hands. I know I shouldn't assume they don't need it but it still feels wrong to see them so innocently happy.

THISSS^^^ when we say reduce, reuse, recycle in regards to using things sustainably, they are in order of importance!!!! the most environmentally conscious way to consume things is NOT to go for the company saying their single use plastics are made out of recycled bottles, it’s to stop j buying crap we don’t need!!
