If an untidy space means an untidy mind, does that mean that an empty space maens an empty mind?
I am not an organized person. I am, in fact, in quite a cluttered space as I am writing this. A clean space, mind you, just full of a lot of trinkets and plushes and things Ive picked up over the years. It has very little coherency and the only semblance of organization is books, games, and other things of that nature being alphabetized. It makes me happy, like Im in a space made for me, like my personality surrounds me outside of my brain
So I ask, dear reader, what is the point of taking all this down and leaving it for a borderline empty, "neat" space? To have a clearer mind? What does that even mean? To be able to "think better?" How is quality of thoughts even quantified? But, I ramble on asking questions like I always do in these things lol :p
So, minimalism. The concept of boiling your living space to the bare minimum so you can be more able to pursue things such as work or creative pursuits. Well, really only work. See, in my opinion, minimalism is directly related to the idea that those above (mostly in corporate spaces, this isnt some government conspiracy or something obviously) want to make it so you, in fact, dont have too many complex thoughts, or have individuality. See, its easier to get labor out of a mass rather than an individual.
Thats why minimalism had such a big, sudden explosion. Because either it had corporate backing, or because it was a convenient thing for corporations to push once the idea started gaining even small amounts of traction. I would argue it in fact negatively inpacts ones emotions, and pretty much only exist to dull ones emotions rather than helps you stabilize. I kind of get the idea of having less constant dopamine hits in spaces, and therefore making it easier to appreciate life, but you know what is a much more effective way of doing that? Getting rid of your phone or something to that effect. I did a year ago and frankly ive never felt better
Minimalism wont help you, if you are feeling overstimulated and overwhelmed dont try to destroy your sense of self instead of actually gauging the problem. Instead, be sure to introspect and learn about yourself, and Im sure you will eventually find your real answer
