A heavy lift

Today, around 10 minutes ago or so, a bird flew into the living room's window and went into a sort of daze, lying on the grass.

It was this small yellow and grey bird; I suppose it was a European greenfinch. We have a small bird feeder near our house, and this species of bird has recently started visiting it a lot more lately, so I'm guessing that this bird was flying away from the feeder and thus must've run into the window. (This also explains the seed in its mouth.)

I like birds, but I'd rather not touch the little one in case I do something to harm it even more, so most things were in the adults hands. I don't blame them for not knowing how to handle an injured and stunted bird; I do, however, blame them for not using the least of their brain cells to at least leave it alone because constantly petting it and crap would only stimmulate the bird more, like these things are fragile as a stick and die of the simplest things, such as shock. I constantly had to tell them not to, with the minimal knowledge I got from watching those "Man befriends Butterfly after rescuing it" videos.

When I finally convinced one of them to put the bird in a box, and they went to pick it up and put the bird in the box, it did start flying and went for the window. It was caught and guided outside, where it flew up a tree. And that was basically it.

I hope the bird is fine, and none of us did end up shocking it to the point of death.  I hope it does get to live a fruitful and safe life out there.

If anyone also comes across an injured or shocked bird and it hasn't gotten up after a little while, just put it in a box with a blanket and place the box in a safe and quiet place.
