Maybe it's just the lack of sleep talking, but man, oh man, do I miss the internet circa 2005. Such a simpler time. Much less to obsess over or worry about.
There was just blogs, forums, primitive video hosting sites with easygoing content, flash games, flash websites, Homestar Runner, a couple of MMO games you could play in the browser, slow loading JPEGs, weird niche websites, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, those banner-ads advertising downloadable mouse cursors that undoubtedly gave you viruses, interactive banner-ads that had you do weird minigames, web comics, sprite comics, Zombo.com...
And then we just had to go and ruin it.
We just had to let Flash die.
We just had to let YouTube become profitable.
We just had to download those tainted cursors and destroy our hard drives.
We ruined it all.

The internet has become overrun with the real world as well. Now I see horrible news headlines whenever I open my search engine. The internet used to be a great escape from the real world, but now it just feels like another source of anxiety (in most cases anyway). I wish things stayed the way they were, but nothing can, which sucks, but we can always find/make places like this at least.
