02/26-03/03 Springtime

This week has had its ups and downs. It is beginning to really feel like spring. On the downside, this made it warmer. My body was not reacting well to the increase in temperature and during the beginning of the week I felt sick because of it. I think that as it got colder I wasn't drinking enough water and now that it's warm I'm really beginning to feel those effects. 

On the upside, spring is my favorite season! I love watching everything come back to life. The early crocus and daffodils blooming are always the first sign of spring and they make me so happy :) I'm getting very excited about the birds in my yard. I am completely enthralled by a pair of white-breasted nuthatches building a nest in a hollow of the black walnut tree in my backyard. I could watch them for hours. I spent yesterday afternoon and this morning making a bluebird house. We used to have a little birdhouse that we attached to the shed, and one year house wren nested in it, but nothing has gone in it since and over the winter it fell apart. It was just pine wood and bought from a Lowe's as a gift to me, but this bluebird house is a lot more heavy duty. It's made out of oak wood and was constructed with carpenter's tools. Hopefully something decides to nest in it this breeding season.

Spring break is this week, although I didn't give myself much of a break by choosing to work at textbook rental every morning. At least on Friday instead of working I get to help at the Audubon center by putting dirt into planters for the upcoming season.
