movie review: hwarang sucks actual balls (SPOILERS)

the movie is a dookie really bad 2/10 when im feeling generous. it started out REALLY interesting. i love endulging in cultures and learning about their history and wtv so it was really cool how in dept i felt watching every episode, learning about korean culture. that its literally 1 point out of the entire score btw.

anywho it was interesting, slightly hard to follow (probably cus of subtitles) and a little weird but not unbearable. everything went downhill when the love interest or couple or whatever was introduced. 

basically the main character's friend has a sister he wanted to meet before he died (they were seperated at a young age) but he died and so the main character decided to honorably take his identity. and BASICALLY he lies to everyone he's this guy and then this other man saves him from near death cus hes a doctor and once he's healed up he tells the man (his friend's father btw) that he'll pretend to be his son for his daughter (or the friend's sister) ((so basically he somehow got semi-adopted by his friend's father and has to pretend to be his friend's sister's older brother)).

and he's introduced to his friend's sister who over time (get this) FALLS IN LOVE WITH HIM!!! omg.. like is this not weird?? she literally started falling in love while still under the impression that HE IS HER BROTHER!! ... GIRL GET UP HES NOT THAT HOT!!

and throughout the show they have this drama about "omg why did you lie ur not my real older brother" and hes like "bitch i did it for ur real brother not u" and then they fall in love blah blah blah EW! its borderline inc*st and i dont care if its not "real" its WEIRD!! who tf came up with this plot..

AND to make it worse she keeps calling him older brother (im pretty sure) when they are literally ensuing romantic activities (like kissing or looking into each others eyes for way too long) LIKE GIRL STOP!!!! 

this romance ALONE got rid of any chance of this movie being higher than a 3

and that wasnt enough. literally on the 3rd episode until the end of the series my FAVORITE character (the BEST character who did absolutely nothing wrong, hes adorable and hes also the more bearable) DIES OUT OF NOWHERE!! and when i tell you the tears DIDNT STOP!!?? I have NEVER cried over a fictional character but this death HURT.. especially because he was so nice and so genuinely adorable (its v's character btw, the whole reason i watched it so i wasnt interested in the rest of the plot)

v's character added the last point to the rating and his sudden death got rid of 3 points... 

BUT.. its not all bad. If you ignore the weird relationship goes on between the mc and this one guy's sister its actually enjoyable. the visuals are rlly captivating (i especially love the character details like the long pretty hair and hanboks) because they REALLY are like looking back in time. Theres also a lot of political drama that was interesting but i didnt really follow cus i was there for one person ONLY but if you have a good attention span it might not bore you like it did me.

The fight scenes? top tier. the actual beef between the hwarang? great! the chemistry between the hwarang? AMAZING! the fact all the men were pretty and dainty? very interesting. not a totaly waste of time but omg.. i needed to vent. i watched this months ago and i couldnt recover
