Somewhat Edible Food Recipes by Lamby (001)

lately I've been into cooking.

I will blog about some things I cooked and liked.

They are simple.

Because I'm not a masterchef.

Edible, if you don't particularly dislike any of the ingredients.

Today's recipe below.

(Baked Sweet Potato Thing)

Ingredients:

  • -Sweet potato, or potato of choice
  • -Honey
  • -Mayo
  • -Salt
  • -Soy Sauce (salty)
  • -Butter
  • -Pepper/Chilli Powder (optional)

You will also need:

  • -Knife.
  • -Cutting board.
  • -Bowl. Of ice cold water.
  • -Microwavable cup or bowl.
  • -Spoon, or chopstick or fork. Preferred stirring utensil item.
  • -One of those grease brush things.
  • -Oven or air fryer. You can also just pan fry it or steam it, but I'm sorry itwon't be as good.
  • -Oven-safe tray/baking paper etc. Depending on your chosen cooking appliance.

Step one (the potato):

Wash potatoes. Peel, if you want. Cut your potato. Do not cut all the way through. Put two chopsticks on the bottom to help not cut all the way through. Cut thinly for crispier. I personally like cutting them like how you cut cucumbers for cucumber salad. Because they look cool. I am not that good at explaining, but yeah.

Put in ice cold water. It will be crispier.

Leave it there and while waiting, proceed to step two to make sauce

Step two (Making Sauce):

Melt butter. Melt with microwaveable bowl or cup. Or melt with pan. Or bonfire. Fires of hell. Whatever method you desire.

How much butter? According to taste. Just a bit.

Put honey and soy sauce in that same bowl, equal parts. Mix. Add a lil bit of mayo. Add salt according to taste.

Pepper and chilli powder if you want to make it spicy spicy.

If you dislike mayo, if you only add a lil bit you won't taste it. It's optional, anyway, but it's better with it than without.

Mix it well. There will be lil mayo chunks, because of course it's not perfect, but that's okay.

Sauce is mostly according to heart's desire, so feel free to add and remove whatever.

But soy sauce and honey serve as the base, so don't exclude those if you can.

Step three (Retrieve Potatoes and Apply Sauce):

Take potatoes out of ice water. You can dab with paper towel if you want, or shake it dry. You don't need to dry it, but somehow just make sure it's not soaking wet with ice water or it'll taste watered-down.

Place potatoes on pan, tray, whatever you have.

Get the grease brush, cooking brush or whatever you call it.

Pour sauce and brush over potatoes, covering them nicely.

If you don't have one, just pour it over the potatoes and spread nicely with a spoon.

Step Four (The Potato Starts Cooking):

....

I never actually checked the temperature and time for these things so uhhh...

Put in oven, at a relatively normal-high temperature for a few minutes.

The key is, put it just a little bit high temperature, then check it every so often.

I suggest you put on a nice song or podcast and clean the dishes while waiting so that you can keep an eye on the oven.

If the potatoes are looking like golden brown-ish and it's kinda slightly burnt, then they're done!

Or you can continue to cook them until they burn.

According to taste, anyway.

Congrats! You made a thing!!!

And a yummy thing!!!

If it turns out not to be very yummy, that's okay. Try again another time, maybe make a nice cup of tea or open a packet of biscuits instead. Maybe a nice long sip of water.

At least you made something. :]

Take potatoes out of oven and serve. Eat with whatever you want.

I hope this was a useful guide, or was helpful or inspired you to make something better.
