"Just Realized How Unhelpful Basic DNI Is"
DNI lists are so stupid.. Genuinely. Like yeah sure why not just put ALL your triggers and display them to the internet where someone can easily take advantage of you. It's actually so stupid, like don't be surprised if someone sends you gore or mocks your identity if you clearly get so triggered by it LMAO.
I don't know what it is with people who write dni lists. Do you really think people who write dni lists expect people who are part of those hate groups to not only read your long ass essay, but also give a fuck? A majority of these people are either trolls or already in cliques. Like... you realize some of these so called "-ist/-phobic" people either don't realize they are part of that hate group or are so into their little hate group circles that they would never even see those dni lists.
Especially on here bro.. Not to say that there are no -ists/-phobes on the site but a majority of people here are open minded so a DNI list on here of all places is pretty fuckn pointless if you ask me. Like, especially in the context of these new gore/creep profiles showing up. You can't just write "DNI pedophile" and expect these creeps to just.. Not interact it's so... "wishful" to put it kindly. :]
Like... Do you really think a racist/homo/transphobe would actually look at a dni list and go "Oh yeah you know I want to respect this person and make them feel comfortable, I'll just not interact <3"
Lmfao no. I'm not saying I'm any of those things but when I see a dni list thats long and unessecary my brain goes "Ohh my god it's one of those. I am NOT reading allat who actually reads these.."ย

I need actual good reasons why a dni list is helpful. It honestly seems so pointless. Back during quarantine when it was really trendy I still only put a "DNI" list in my carrd link because everyone else was doing it LMFAO.

Has this generation gotten too soft to block people. It's literally not that hard?? If you don't like someone then block them don't make a whole show of it (ugh and this also ties into cancel culture aswell.)
ironically, DNI lists are actually closed minded. You mean to tell me that instead of educating yourself, the other person, you just intend to shun them and... leave them back with their own group? Even if you have no intentions or wants otf educating the other party, then surrounding yourself with beliefs that only you believe in is extremely ironic. I wonder if those racists are doing the same thing right now... (SARCASM) I'm so glad the more open minded people refuse to see why people are bigoted! So glad to see how open minded and accepting they are (SARCASM)
TLDR: DNI lists put a bigger target on you than before and are pointless. Also it doesn't actually alert people of hate groups to not interact with you it literally only shows others that you have basic human morals.
I would actually love discussion around this, cuz nothing can change my mind on how idiotic it is LOL!

and yeah there is a huge array of people on here, blocking people you dont like instead of spending so much time writing up a dni list is honestly just common sense
the moment i see someone with a dni list I get so judgy because like... no shit?? It's always the dumbest shit being on someones dni

I love DNI lists because they let me know who I shouldn't interact with. While DNI lists are a very young and progressive trend, I wouldn't be opposed to people on the further right using them so I could filter them out too. If you're going to be on the world wide web but you decide to self segregate yourself, that's your problem and I want nothing to do with you.
true because most people who even have a dni list I do not want to follow them at all. The fact that they even have one shows me they may be closed minded and I'd rather not interact with them.

dnis aren't entirely useless. Like if you interact and you get blocked then you can clearly see why you were blocked without thinking you were blocked for no reason. It also gives insight as to what kind of person that person is. Not to mention some people have had bad experiences with certain fandoms like for example I hate doja stans because they're annoying as hell so if youre a doja stan who thinks i seem chill it gives you the chance to see like "oh maybe not' theres also the case of age like some people don't want full grown adults interacting on their page and vise versa so it tells them "hey not here". Not to mention with your argument of making people vulnerable, they can just block those people, no?
not to mention they can also act as a warning for people. Like my dni says no people who don't like stoners bc I am one so lets say you have trauma surrounding stoners, then my account isn't the place for you

my friends can hate me all they want for this because I know a lot of them have dni lists themselves but seriously like if my biography says "I'm gay" and i have "homophobes dni" in my bio like most bigoted people see dnis as like big arrows pointing towards a vulnerable aspect of yourself.
when I was 13 back when dnis were popular in 2020 i even put my triggers in my carrd which, as ive gotten more severe triggers because of my ocd like that shit is SO dangerous. no one should publicly be sharing their triggers/phobias online, people will try and hurt you.
there are ways to communicate about your boundaries that don't involve making a big list for everyone to see, like if I don't want to interact ill just block you or whatever its that simple.
even then i have a lot of good friends that if I applied the hypothetical basic dni criteria i wouldn't be able to be friends with them, because most people would see them as too problematic.
and as someone with anxiety too, dni lists genuinely act like gasoline to the fire, like i don't know if I fit your dni criteria because stuff like "bad people dni" I don't know what that fucking means guys! maybe I'm bad! literally I'm so glad I saw this today because I feel so alone in this sometimes
