It seems like most people really don't care about subcultures nowadays.

Subcultures aren't a thing that should be bought. Media makes it seem that way and it pisses me off.

 No need to buy a whole bunch of shit. 

Most people don't even want to be in a subculture, they only want to be in it because of some Pinterest aesthetic board. And then they dedicate their entire look to be that way just for that and not for themselves.

Back then you'd be called out for being a poser but nowadays if you do it now you're "gatekeeping". Sorry but that's what you're doing. You're trying to make your life look like what you saw on Pinterest. 

It happens a lot with emo and scene and goth and punk and such, especially punk. Punk subculture is so watered down along with Goth that people think music is the only thing to make yourself that way. No. It's deeper than that. And calling you out isn't gatekeeping. Just follow the rules of a subculture.

If you're gonna be punk then live like it. Where's the DIY and shit?? Why are you buying so many stuff to seem that way?? When that's not what they even do?

Same applies to Goth, since goth stems from punk and has the same values. Meaning you can't be a conservative punk or goth, it just doesn't make sense. Because both are entirely leftist throughout.

And don't get me started on emo and scene. People reduce subcultures so bad about what people see on Instagram and whatever and they base their entire lives around it. Rather than the actual people in the subculture who look that way because it reflects their outlook on life.

Most subcultures aren't fucking aesthetics you fucking buy into, people. Stop the shit with your "Minimalist goth" "clean girl goth" "goth shein haul" just fucking stop.

 Subcultures shouldn't be changed or watered down. If they are then it wouldn't be a subculture anymore, that's not fucking gatekeeping, it's about keeping what made it and the essence of it alive, if you understand. If you get mad then you don't know what a subculture is. I hate seeing "OMG WHAT AESTHETIC IS THIS??"  under a subculture thing. I know it's a hard truth and all people are just walking contradictions and need to be called out. The consumerism and crap is so ridiculous. Honestly could never pinpoint why I didn't like aesthetics but it's probably because how shallow they are to me, I don't consider myself any aesthetic, I'm only being myself, cause I'm emo, and that's how I'll keep being. Stop trying to be something you can relate to only because it's trendy. People care so much about looks and consumption that they'll literally deny subcultures having any culture or politics. There's seriously no substance. It's so boring.
