first blog entry cause i can write multiple paragraphs here and post it publicly while it not being on reddit or spaced between multiple posts.
fucking ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I've been out of school for a year and a half. I've been postponing going to college out of pure anxiety I think. I don't know how to do everything alone, and my parents try to help but ultimately don't. It's a loop of unreadiness and fear of the unknown, but I want to cut the shit and go. Unfortunately, I think I will have to start with online classes, but I keep seeing everywhere that I should prepare... like don't go to college without an idea.
Big problem, I have zero actual interests that inspire me. I love art, I really do, but I'm not a good artist and I don't really want to be. I would rather observe art, take it in, study it, or share it. I saw a degree in art history but I'm severely worried that I'm not extremely passionate about it, so I should go for something with a little more guarantee like marketing, pr, or business. Just some qualifications for a wide variety of jobs. I can always keep my interest for art or even music as a hobby and get a much more... "businessy" job. I'm also a pessimist so don't take my self doubt with a grain of salt. I will run through loops trying to justify why an objectively non harmful choice will ruin me. It's frustrating constantly yearning for things that I will probably love, but worried I'm making the wrong choice.
I want to study art. I think it's something I would very much love. With time, my interests can change as well. My family says, "Go to community for 4 years and earn a basic bachelors and then decide what you want to do." Which would seem smart, for someone who... has a good idea what they're getting into. Money wise too but I'd rather get my life started. I'd rather pick something and see where it takes me. Its such a risky idea though, I don't want to be foolish. Should I wait 4 years then decide to study something? Will that benefit me more than throwing myself into something with no real life experience. I'm not sure. I just don't enjoy this constant mental loop.
I'll figure something out, soon I hope. Yippie!

hey i was in a sorta similar situation to you and have actually recently applied to college in order to major in art history because of 1. my love for art 2. my lack of skills in actually creating art and 3. my indecisiveness in my future
i decided on actually pursuing art history because it combines a lot of different factors like obviously art and history but art is so broad so things like architecture, fashion, music, literature, and so much more can be brought into play and studied and there are business, chemistry, and language aspects to it as well
there are so many diverse job opportunities that come from a degree in art history as well you can even go to law school afterward if u wanted to
i have found a passion for this field of study because of the multitude of paths that it can take me and not to say community college isn't worth it because it is absolutely a great option i think art history is great for people who want to try a lot of things
and if u do decide to go to community college first see if they offer an art history class just to see if u like it and if anything community college is a safe place to experiment with different fields
i really hope this could help and wish you the best in your journey !!! <3

That sounds rough, but I’m sure whatever you decide to do will be great. You can also experiment with hobbies to see if you find any enjoyment in anything else as well! I suggest reading books, I found my future goal in there. Being an author! And since in books characters have so many different jobs you can find one that seems the most interesting. ( ◠‿◠ )
Im happy you found your passion! Reading sounds like a smart idea, thank you!! ( ̄▽ ̄)
