The first time I tried it felt like drinking dirt and I didn't understand it at all.
Adding creamer or sugar helped to take away some of the bitterness, but even then it still wasn't enough to make me desire the stuff.
Now I have it down to an art. Between two people, I make 6-8 cups of half-caf ( it can't be bought as half-caf ; its taken from two separate containers, one decaf one regular ). And then I like to use a spoon of honey plus either vanilla almond milk or oat milk.
Almond milk can be used in a lot of recipes calling for dairy milk and
it lasts much longer, and we've replaced diary milk entirely with it for
a decade now. Oat milk is really potent and creamer-like, so much less of that than the almond milk is needed to lessen the bitterness ; I personally only use oat milk as a creamer. Some days even just the honey alone is good enough for me.
