FUCK IT! Game reviews:shrine

I played this yesterday,  it was pretty good.  

Shrine is a first person shooter that runs in the doom engine,  you play as a  skinless dude in pants shooting at eldritch horrors with gun crabs. It's fun I promise.  

The game is a decent challenge even on easy. Especially when you fight each new enemy for the first time. Nice level design,  the weapons feel punchy, and all the enemies are fun to fight and balanced. All except one. 

Now to the negatives, first up, the fucking matriarch. What is wrong with the matriarch? It's bullshit, thats what is wrong! Their attacks are basically 1 hit kills if you don't have overcharged health,  and this game loves throwing at you two at a time, constantly.  They are overly tanky,  taking several grenades,  and that NOISE,  ahhhhhh! 

Fuck the grenade launcher too,  it's not like, say,  the quake or dusk grenade launcher, so,  no detonate on command,  which would be fine except If you don't hit an enemy the grenade goes full force back at you and explodes! Fuck the grenade launcher. 

In total I give shrine a 4.5 out of 10

Decent game,  until you get to the matriarch
