I'm trying to get more into the Goth scene and I feel so like yuck. I feel like the whole aspect of being Goth has been misinterpreted by my generation on social media. It's so frustrating I love the sound and the look of Goth but if I'm not living up to another 17 yr old's expectation then I'm not goth all of a sudden. It's strange. That's just my experience tho :3!

Ma'am, I'm black. That alone is enough for me to ruin some people's expectations of being goth.
Just do you! Wear what you want, and listen to whatever music you want.
Don't worry about what others think.
Probably should've added that I'm black too LOL and it also really fucking hard to feel like I belong somewhere that my people helped create. It's a strange feeling but maybe being goth and expressing myself isn't the problem maybe it's that I feel I don't belong in a culture that was made for anyone to enjoy. Working on it tho trust lol.

Being black is all the more reason you should be doing you, sis! Good to know you're working on it. It took me years to finally be able to express myself how ever way I saw fit. :)
