Clones wars season 1

Why don't I write these in my notes before.

My phone restarted while writing this.

Like every fucking time.

So I'll be more concise ig.

The series is. well. Ab the clone wars, it takes place between the second and third movie of the prequel trilogy, republic vs separatists, Jedi vs sith Lords n co

And having watched the movies before, it's kinda weird seeing the characters fighting one guy again and again knowing he'll die just in the third movie and so all of this will go nowhere.

The visuals are... Something. Definitely something in a 2008 3d cartoon sort of way. The eyes of some characters feels too big imo and everyone just has this more slender figure it's a bit silly but also I appreciate how the characters and the environments have textures, and patterns and I see the individual strokes from the way they digitally painted the models and that's kinda cool.

Also there's something ab the digital paintings they use sometimes for things like the skies that I find pretty.

It's fun to watch, or in the background, just 20 mins long episodes, with a story that tends to end in one but might be a two or three eps long, so they're not auto conclusive + the story progresses either way. For what it is, it's okay, it's decent yk.

Sometimes you can feel a more familiar trope you might have seen in other cartoons or media in general, like an episode where everyone tells the useless character hah you're useless and then bam he somehow saves the day, stuff like that.

The character development is weird. Because this whole thing happens between episode two and third of the prequel trilogy, so they're restricted, some, to not being able to progress past a certain point or some characters display more a side that was less explored in the movies. Specifically Anakin.

Trilogy Anakin shows pretty heavily a vibe of one Kubrick stare away from mass murdering, and it makes sense, but here he's just fighting this war, looses the "hey if dictatorship works that's what we should use" side, is still reckless and hot headed and that type of thing, but in a way more... Normal and charming, obi wan is still fucking done with him every time but without the fear he might become Evil McEvil like in the movies. He's just the character that does very risky things and doesn't always listen but still has good intentions

In contrast, some other characters and point of views more in general can be explored, restricted by the nature of the series but still interesting, like Ashoka. And if here she's a teen and we'll see some development for her. Then what the fuck is the tv series dedicated to her ab.

Cus from what I've heard, she's already an adult and wise and shit. That sounds fucking boring.

Also apparently the conflict in that series is, spoiler alert, that oh there's one of the rebels friend trapped somewhere but oh if they save him an evil guy will escape and people will die, so do you save your bff or do you prevent some mass murdering. And they fucking save the random guy anyway and Ashoka is chill with it?

And one of the fucking episodes of clone wars is ab Ashoka being worried cus Anakin got wounded and they're stranded in a random planet and another character is like "Hey, remember that as much as important he is to you, preventing the loss of thousands of lives is more important"

So thats very fucking ironic but anyway

We see different perspectives, oh the republic isn't always the strongest and different planets may fall in the hands of the separatists, one way or the other.

We see how people that mean good still surrendered to the separatists cus the republic wasn't quick enough to help them fight starvation.

We see a tribe that decided to hide away and see any fighting as bad, that Jedi are just as bad because they're still fighting and killing people. And then the separatists get to the planet, decide it's theirs and try to test a weapon that's affects only organic matter against this small tribe. AND THE ELDER IS STILL LIKE NO WE WONT DEFEND THEMSELVES

You hear that? It's the sound of "bastards will not give a fuck how much neutral and peaceful and avoidant of troubles you wanna be, they'll fucking use you as a doormat anyway" ah the impossibility of looking the other way because sooner or later you'll be affected, my beloved.

And the clones. You can explore a lot with the clones. Because they're not mindless, they have in a way a slight different way of thinking, different personalities. It's in some capacity explored in some episode in particular.

Again, they're not mindless. They can have a haircut a bit different, their personalities can differ, they give each others nicknames and use those instead of series numbers, the Jedi still care ab them, still hate when they die, cus they're still human, a life connect with the force like everything else in the universe.

And the Jedi didn't want to go to war. This is something you know just from the prequel trilogy, but they just fucking found out one day that a random Jedi secretly ordered an army of clones and bam now they're at war and need to use the. But they still care ab them.

Their armours may be a bit different, a helmet with a few drawings on it painted on. It's the small things yk.

An army of people made in a laboratory, that received training and was forced through chemicals to grow faster, all just to be soldiers without any other life purpose.

That's fucked up. And as loyal as some are, I can't look at one of them deciding to help the separatists, to live differently, and explain his rage to his other "brothers" and think he's completely in the wrong. Their whole existence is wrong! And they never asked for this!

With time you recognize that some clones are even recurring characters that assist in battles. For example, Rex. If something happens to rex I will die as well. Bro has a plot armour thicker than obi wan's.

Also an interesting thing is that for once, sometimes the Jedi look capable. I'll talk ab it more when I'll talk ab the movies but most of em fucking SUCKS at fighting I'm sorry.

Main characters included. Here apparently they remember a bit more that they can use powers and how a lightsaber works. Not always, there are a few times when they are in danger and omg just fucking use telekinesis already wtf.

Also half of the episodes are like oh there's this situation that needs to be fixed, we'll send two Jedi to help

And it's always obi wan and Anakin. Do they have no one else? Do these two ever get a weekend off? "They're at war" MAJORITY OF THE TIMES THE COUNCIL IS JUST CHILLING AND VIDEOCHATTING IN HOLOGRAMS FORM. GO YOURSELF. LET MY MAN OBI WAN REST.

Anyway ya, I'll watch more of it, see ya.
