Cronus Ampora Ramble [HOMESTUCK]

I know this one is gonna be controversial so im prepared
Lets talk about everyones favorite hs character, CRONUS

While much isn’t said of the dancestors and they are all stereotypes; there are some detail people overlook. The biggest example being Cronus.

Cronus is a otherkin, he is a 50’s style [greaser] human. This is shown in what he wears as he is the only troll to wear a white shirt with his sign. Cronus also experiences dysphoric thoughts as shown when talking with Kankri. “Maybe they’re right. Maybe I am just faking it for attention.” Kankri has to reassure him that isn’t the case (making it shown this isn’t the first time Cronus has come to him for help). “I would be highly disappointed if that were true”. Kankris exact words before he motivates Cronus.

Cronus also shows to be a somewhat outcast. He is always to himself and none of the other trolls are pleased with him or even care for him. Often he is seen annoying to them. Cronus fake claims himself due to him having a once magic phase and after being told (heavily implied to be by Meenah) it wasn’t real, he grew over that ‘phase’. He believes, (rather hears other trolls saying) he'll grow out of his human phase. Which isn’t the truth since he genuinely seems happy anytime someone lets him talk about humans. Moving on from that people ignore that Cronus makes music and has an instrument. No one listens or even cares (not even Mituna).

Mituna is still how he was before he was brain damage it’s just that now he tends to stumble over his words and gets mad about it. It’s implied him and Cronus use to be friends (or acquaintances) right before they blew up. This would make sense considering how “harsh” Cronus is to Mituna. Cronus isn’t harsh to Mituna on purpose, rather he doesn’t understand. While talking he gives him a shoulder massage, and doesn’t understand how what he’s doing can be wrong. Its also a very 50’s thing to do so he’s doing it out of knowledge of his interest (and it's implied that mituna might have done something similar in the past with/to cronus). 

Cronus also talks to Mituna from time to time since Mituna forgets (rather doesn’t listen) to the things he says; making it easy to vent to him. That doesn’t mean Mituna doesn’t snap at Cronus. When Cronus brought up his music Mituna loses it going, “YOUR MUSIC IS FUCKING SHIT”. This hurts Cronus as he is very passionate about it and for someone who doesn’t care about him or listen to him, that makes him take a step back and say “yea your right, no one gives a shit about it” causing him to now be even more self conscious and build his mask more.

For those who still think Cronus is faking being human consider this. If you convince yourself something for so long you start believing you have whatever said thing is. For Cronus this could be, being human. It started off for attention yet he got so caught up in it and learnt so much about it that now he himself doesnt feel like a troll anymore. So when he has actual problems no one believes him, as hes the boy who cried wolf. Also with this, this would include his depression/suicidal tendencies.First he would just say he was sad and needed help, but now that he is pushed away and has no one left to help or comfort him he realizes he only has himself. which makes him seek attention more, which is why he bullies mituna more since thats the only person whos 'dumb enough to listen and not judge' he probably hurts mituna to get attention from latula or a lecture from kankri if he or mituna steps out of line.

He created a cycle he can't escape, causing an eternity of sweeps of him looking/seeking attention but never getting it. He wanted to be seen as a good guy, wanted attention. He was just a kid who wanted attention and now hes grown up to lack it and do anything for it. All because he didn't get it as a kid. Cronus can't get out of the cycle it just isnt possible, and he knows that himself so all he can do is wait it out or try to get others attentions to help comfort him. Yet he mostly just ends up by himself in his hive wondering why no one wants to quadrant up with him or why hes the way he is, etc. Cronus and Eridan show parallels in that sense. Yet the only issue is Cronus took it to far and put himself in that loop. Eridan didn't ask to be stuck or not have any quadrants. he loved fef yet when she left and for sol and would make out in the horn pile infront of him, he went manic causing everyones death. Cronus (if we assume due to him being the bard); Invites Destruction of Hope or one who Invites Destruction through Hope. Bards have easy going, laid back and/or avoidant, cowardly personalities. They ghost their opposite Aspect until a dire crisis pushes them into their own.
