Poetry

So, I've just recently got back into poetry and wrote a few new poems about how I've been feeling lately, and I want to share them.

Confusing Times.

The eyes deceive, the ears must not

What is seen and heard, is twisted in thought

I’ve seen terrors, but thought of luxury

I’ve discovered fairytales, only to be destroyed in mind inevitably

Once deceived, the mind stops believing

And once grown, a child stops dreaming.

The unknown is pondered but believed,

The known is questioned and released.

Nothing seems authentic, everything plastic-fake.

Growing is confusing, change is confusing.

Everything, is confusing.

Puzzles.

Since I was little I've loved puzzles,

I grew up loving them because everything had a specific place.

It made sense.

Until I had my heart truly broken for the first time,

I hated them.

Having to piece your own heart back together strategically is like an endless puzzle.

Desperate to finish it you drag someone else in to help,

but all they do is scatter the pieces.

I hate puzzles.

Especially ones I never finished making whole…

Halloween.

You remind me of Halloween if it happened all year round.

You wear a costume.

You’re sweet, or… you were.

You’re caring, or… you were.

You try, or… you did

I knew you, or… maybe I didn’t.

I knew the mask that you thought you could keep on forever.

I never knew you, until you showed me.

You showed me how ruthless you could be if you were provoked long enough,

how thoughtless you could be if left alone for too long.

You took off the mask as soon as you felt me questioning.

Heh, I don’t know you.

At least, not the real you.
