Color Analysis of Characters: Arlecchino

Red:

The color Red lets a viewer know that there is caution and danger ahead, with what we know of Arlecchino already we know that she is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. Wearing red can also give a sense of authority and power, in Wanderer’s voiceline about her he states “To exert a higher level of control over people, she put’s on a graceful and cordial front.” (Wanderer: About The Knave). Although the red is more of an accent color, we the player, are drawn to it. Due to them being deeper shades of red, they also instill feelings of despair, as if there is no hope left. 

Black:

Black is a universal color, most of her lower outfit is black and we can see that her hands are also black. Similar to Red, Black can be seen as creating an unsettling feeling of despair. Black can also stand for prestige and authority. In Inazuma you can talk to Efim Snezhevich, an NPC, who had taken a group of Fatuu to be disguised as Shogun Personnel to restart the war between Inazuma and Watatsumi Island in hopes to raise Arlecchino’s “prestige”.  This is proof of her authority and influence has pushed her people into attempting to restart an entire WAR for her. This is later supported in Fontaine, where we can see she has a clear influence over Furina. Creating pressure and show casing that she herself can not be manipulated by the higher powers and their people. 

Grey:

Outside of the color Black, Grey is a dominant color in her outfit scheme. “Oh but Luma her shirt is black” WRONG!!! It’s a dark grey! Grey can represent a wide variety of things from “unemotional” to “control”. In her appearance in the Fontaine Teaser Trailer - The Final Feast, we can infact confirm this symbolism. We can also declare that she has no emotional care for things that do not involve her and her mission to save Fontaine from its prophecy. Further so, In Tartaglia’d voiceline about her states “If she stood to benefit from betraying others, she’d turn against the Tsaritsa in a heartbeat.” (Tartaglia: About The Knave)

White:

Most if not all of Arlecchino’s outfit is white. This is one of the most common colors used in a positive light, but for our purposes it is used negatively. Although Arlecchino has been described as “kind” by members of the House of Hearth, she can also be cold and distant which we can see in the Fontaine Teaser Trailer when she says “Very fun. But it is not enough” (The Final Feast, Fontaine Teaser Trailer) her tone going from very soft, kind to stern, unemotional. White can also give us the player the view of a “Haven”. In Lyney and Lynette’s character stories both confirm this with how she had recruited them into the House of Hearth after murdering both of their gr00mers. This gave them a false sense of security, as children are easily swayed and manipulated. This would later be used to have them become spies for the House of Hearth.
