CIRCUIT'S MUSIC RECS: 12/03/23

if there is one thing i have always wanted to do, it is start a blog where i talk about the music i listen to. i was originally going to host one on tumblr or bearblog, but i feel like this site has the perfect vibes for it. expect these to come out monthly? realistically i'll post these whenever i remember about it.

Battle! (Hatsune Miku) - cosMo@暴走P

as of posting this blog, this is the most recent song for PROJECT VOLTAGE, the hatsune miku x pokémon collab. it is also my favorite of the songs released so far. cosMo is one of my favorite vocaPs, so i am a little biased in that opinion, but even out of cosMo's more recent music this song has definitely stuck with me the hardest. the song's percussion especially gives it the feel of a heated boss fight. it reminds me a lot of Raid Boss: CATASTROPHiC LoVE in that regard, which is one of my favorite underrated cosMo tracks. i also really enjoy the way miku is tuned in this song; very soft and melodic in contrast to the intensity of the instrumental.

Mare Maris - M2U

this was my most listened to track on spotify according to this year's wrapped, having repeated it 99 times. completely deserved, as i really love this song. i'm such a sucker for when classical instrumentation (especially violin) is added to otherwise electronic music, and this song is one of my favorite examples of such. the "crispy" sound of the accordion synths are also very satisfying to listen to... like drinking a tall glass of refreshing water. this song is originally from the SEGA arcade game maimai, which is the last place i would expect to see M2U, but i enjoy the surprise.

ACE FOR ACES - TAG×U1

originally from DDR, this is the song my spacehey URL is named after... or, well, URL at the time of posting this. i'm thinking about changing it, honestly. my PFP at the time i set it was rinon (the pink haired girl from the song's MV), so i thought it was fitting. most of the songs i enjoy from DDR happen to be the super difficult boss songs, and this is no exception! a bit ironic, considering how bad at the game i actually am... this is a pretty standard "rhythm game boss song" sounding track, but sometimes simplicity is good! i especially like the piano though. reminds me of flower dance by dj owakari of all things, haha.
