how do you develop a style? (Help)

How-? does a whole new wardrobe of clothes just appear randomly? Where do you buy clothes?

I’m currently developing the “scene/emo” style type thing, I’m even getting a haircut soon as most of you know! I just don’t get how you guys magically find and can afford these clothes, I’m so lost LOL

I’ve been to a few thrift stores and found some cool jeans and stuff, but that’s about it, what do I even wear? what if I buy the stuff for an outfit and hate it (I won’t) I need a guide or someone to help me

What places should I and shouldn’t I buy from?

Hai I'm a stranger but yea for me I just wear T-shirts and jeans up until I go "wait I really like this style lets slay" and combine and layer things in my closet, hunt for cheap stuff on random online shops, or find weird stuff at thrift stores. I save up a lot for big outfits as a treat

As for scene / emo a lot of the fashion is diy and meant to be cheap and affordable, kind of like punk, which makes it a shame that people are charging so much for it...thrifting is good, and looking for things to layer with (undershirts, maybe tights under ripped jeans or shorts/skirts) and things to rip up, modify, or sew together (cutting up knee/calf high socks to make arm socks, pants to make leg warmers, ripping up jeans with sandpaper and/or scissors/knife to make ripped jeans, drawing on shoes). However if your local thrift stores just don't have anything that appeals to u, hot topic is ok but also super overpriced and some stuff like t shirts and jewelry tend to be low quality and rip/fade easily. :( (at least for me??)

Also even like don't be afraid of going to stores like (in the US) Marshalls or Ross because usually they have shit from big retailers that are super marked down and u can probably find bits and pieces of things to piece together there..idk! good luck!!! 👍
