I'm so utterly convinced on this fact that I am writing it down here so I can look back and say "I told you so".
I believe there has been something that caused panic in the Sims 4 headquarters because since 2022 bc they've gotten incredibly pandery (keep in mind I start in late 2022 bc dlc takes time to release, but I have evidence before then):
18th of October 2022 - Base Game was released for free
10th of November 2022 - pastel pop kit, notable for it being a collab with Plumbella, the first DLC to have colaboration with simmers
16th of March 2023 - growing together, and more importantly, dynamic infants
20th of July 2023 - horse ranch, with more animals (the sims community had been begging for horses since before Cottage Living which was back in 2021). Horses were part of the Pets pack in Sims 3
22nd of November 2023 - My First Pet Stuff, their most controversial DLC, was made free as part of their Black Friday deal (was controversial for being DLC for Cats and Dogs, making it DLC for DLC)
7th of December 2023 - For Rent, which has been asked for since City Living (2016!). Important to note that parts of this (multiple sims on one lot and buglars) were a feature in Sims 3
other notes:
- While I don't have a concrete date, it's also worth noting that they've also started heavily having Simmers collab builds for new packs, which started, I think, with My Wedding Stories in early 2022.
- They also opened the Creator Network this past year and just started added new Simmers after multiple years (and several of the past Creators no longer making Sims 4 content)
- Also worth noting early 2022 had alot of "false starts" to pandering towards simmers but failed due to all of them being glitchy messes (My Wedding Stories, Werewolves, and Highschool Years)
Anyway all of this means nothing really, just thought it intresting they were getting dogged for not caring about simmers and are now basically doing everything the fanbase has wanted
