- INTRODUCTION -
So, it´s been a year already since I´ve seen Barnyard for the first time. I was remembering the night I saw it throughout the day, which made me want to watch it again but failed lol. And so, I wanted to review this movie for my blog post since I also had the idea to do that. Now let´s get started!
- THE ORIGINS -
I actually never heard of Barnyard during my entire life until the Omni-Man memes started kicking out in August 2021. When I first saw it, it reminded me of those cringy kids media. Well, it actually wasn´t very cringy in my opinion, but it sometimes felt awkward though. Going back to the movie, I never really had any interest on watching it until Late 2022.
It all started when I was bored zapping in the living room until I found the movie streaming in one of my country´s most popular kids channels. I was so surprised to see it on TV for the first time and I couldn´t believe my eyes that I had to change channel for a teeny bit on time. I ended up mising a bit of the film since it was probably halfway I think. A few days later, one night when I was all by myself, I searched it on my TV´s system which had a search function and found it, and so I ended watching it.
- REVIEW -
- THE ANIMATION: in all seriousness, the art style might not be appealing to a general audience, but at least the animation isn´t bad though. But surprisingly, the coyotes actually look a lot more appealing than the rest of characters, it´s kind of crazy though.
- THE PLOT: so the story starts in Old McDonald´s farm, which is a setting that seems pretty appealing to children since it´s based on the nursery rhyme, but with a more "wilder" touch, which makes it more appealing. It might seem childish and "immature" at first, but it actually has some emotional moments too, like Daisy´s backstory or Ben´s death. I hate people who think kids movies are insensitive, like, are you even aware that if kids media were insensitive enough to be, they wouldn´t be appealing to a general audience? But going back to the film, these moments made me feel a bit sad from the inside, especially the ending (since I´m actually sensitive to babies) where Ottis becomes a father.
- CONCLUSION -
If I were to review this film on some movie site, I´d give it a 3.3/5. Might not be appealing, but at least it ain´t at all bad. That´s all I have to say.
