School Life

Hey I’m Alia, I’m 13 years old and a student in year 9. I’m trying this blog thing because YOLO and blogs are just too cool lol.

Anyway, school life is hectic. Especially now, during the winter season, you lose motivation and you can’t be asked to do much. Which is always a hassle because you either fall behind or well you don’t understand as much.

So here are some top tips on how to study efficiently and how to manage your time.

          1. Create a plan/timetable of what you’re going to do and complete on that day. Doing it on the day is easier (for me at least - as my family are very spontaneous so I have to manage my time accordingly).

           2. DONT do a bunch of work at the same time. Distribute your work equally.

           3. DONT do similar subjects one after another (like physics and maths) put something completely different in between to not tire your brain. (Eg. Physics, English & maths).

           4. After a certain time period, take short breaks. You can figure out what you find most comfortable (30MINS study, 5MINS break, 60MINS study, 10MINS break). Come up with a schedule to stick with.

           5. DONT spend a ton of time on one piece of work. Give a set amount of time for everything you do. Set a timer to complete stuff by and if you have time left after doing the your work, you can use it as a short break as a reward.

           6. Timing. The times you sit to study are very very important. If you study late at night, though you may think you learn better, it’s very bad for you and your brain starts to eat itself. It’s better to study during the day.

           7. Where. The place you study is key. If you work in an area where you get easily distracted you’re just making it harder for yourself. Try to work in a clean environment. Also, make sure your lighting is one that you can properly concentrate with. Wether it be a lamp or the ‘big’ light.

           8. Whatever you do, don’t ever study in bed. If you study in bed you subconsciously tell yourself that your bed is a place to work and not sleep so your brain automatically becomes use to studying in bed. This means your sleep schedule gets entirely messed up.

           9. To add on to number 8, your sleep schedule is very important. If you don’t have enough rest you will not be able to concentrate. If you get rest at the wrong time, your body will work slower and will not get the right nutrients for you to properly focus.

           10. Try your hardest to not get distracted, turn your phone off. Listen to music if it helps.

That’s ten top tips. I hope this helped!! Just remember don’t overwork yourself and don’t stress. Stay relaxed and be comfortable. Make yourself use to this routine and you will surely see a difference in your studying!!!

Bug out
