Vintage G1 MLPs From My Childhood

I could kick myself for not taking before photos of these guys but oh well. They had scratches, smudges, random dark marks, and tangled hair. I didn't know whether I could actually restore them with my low level of skill.

But old toys will surprise you. These were my sister's toys. She is 7 years older than me. When she came to visit Dad, she got her own toys that my parents put into hiding cause I always wanted to play with them. Some of them were an impressive collection of MLP G1 toys. 

I would always try to sneak and steal them when my parents hid them. Fortunately, the age difference made her not care about me taking them. So, 30+ years, hard play from 2 kids, and decades of storage later, and these ponies are alright. 💖

I washed them with hot water and dish soap first. Then, I conditioned their manes and tails with regular conditioner. Finally, I trimmed the damaged ends, combed out all tangles, and styled the hair. I just now did some final touch ups with nail polish remover to elimate a few stubborn marks.

I plan to box up and mail 2 of the 3 to my sister for Christmas. I'll keep the third cause I genuinely fell in love with her all over again. She was one of my faves.

Without further ado, here they are below.

This one dates back to 1984, making it almost 40 years old. We played with her in the bath and swimming pool. So her mane was pretty crispy. She cleaned up nice with a little TLC.

This one dates back to 1988, making it 35 years old. It was in the best condition and needed less restoration.

The grand finale: my coveted Bridal Beauty. She came out in 1989, aging her at 34 years old. I am absolutely in love with her all over again. I think I will keep her. I feel lucky that I found her again in the first place.

I also have a couple of Grand Champion horse models I plan to touch up and send with the rest too.
