What Was Geocites and what happened to it

GeoCities Was a web hosting service, which was a private company until in 2009. Yahoo but the company then shut it down. But before yahoo got the company. Gio cities used to be a very creative space on the Internet. it developed the aesthetic for the 90s Internet awesome ways. The 90s was a place where people could do anything before social media and flat design. People made their own website that is centralized around them it’s almost like a personal bio. It was at its pink in the mid 90s.  Popularity declined  when Web 2.0 was introduced.
