I won't retain a single thing I've learned in school even when I spent hours going over the material, but as soon as someone mentions an old special interest/hyperfixation of mine, a deep ancient evil awakens from its catacomb-style tomb in the back of my mind like some poor college student just accidentally summoned it while trying to copy down a hieroglyph on notebook paper and suddenly I have a lifetime supply of rant-able information about one particular niche topic

I've done great in history class my whole life because I remember events and what happened during them, but as soon as the section is over it's gone from my head completely. you could ask me about it and I would have nothing to tell you

but if you say anything related to a character I like I will be pulling out character analyses, essays, deep dives, lore, fanfics, and every possible interpretation of everything that character has ever done and how it ties into their backstory and personality like I've spent years doing in-depth research for a historically accurate biography that will be the peak of my lifelong career
