manyland.

I know most of you probably don't know what it is, it's basically a 2d sandbox virtual world game that I enthusiastically wrote a whole blog about when I first found out about this site, it is and has been my favourite game for 9 years, and I've been playing it since I was 7. I never grew out of it.

But just like most things from before on the internet, manyland has officially reached its end as well. (Very very ironic when you take a look at the things I wrote in my previous blog). Phillipp has stated that the game is officially shutting down due to financial problems. When exactly has not been established yet but I have a feeling it will probably last right up to Christmas. Unfortunately, I don't think it will live to see the next year.

However, I just hope that somewhere along the line, maybe things change up or someone creates a manyland rewritten or something like that, even though I'm quite surprised to find out as of right now that club penguin rewritten also shut down just last year lmao (albeit for an entirely different reason). Which is why right now I'm lurking on several discord servers to see if there's any turnaround for the news. (Very extra, I know lmao)

ngl, I'm not happy at all about these turn of events, because manyland signified everything the old web meant to me and I don't think I'll ever get as much satisfaction online nowadays as I did when I used to play manyland. Although if I'm being entirely fair I will honestly say that manyland was already dying long before they made it official. Key word dying, not dead.

Long are the days where you'll just randomly find a game like manyland through randomly browsing on chrome web store, and maybe I am just looking pessimistically at the future of the internet, but some part of me tells me regrettably that this change in the internet is very real and in fact not a mere illusion simply brought about by nostalgia. I mean, I'm not even old enough to feel the full effects or memories of the old web (I'm talking more 90s rather than 00s), but even I can feel a stark contrast between the short glimpse of what I managed to experience in my early years, with what I see now and I'm not sure if I'm entirely happy about it.

The internet in general just feels a lot more empty these days, save for the same old websites and people (e.g: twitter, youtube, reddit repeat), and the death of manyland to me just acts as the final nail in the coffin regarding the way the internet used to be in the past.

Even this website is slowly dying, so basically I guess this is a sign for me to finally pick up a book after all these years haha.

Bye manyland, you will definitely be missed <3

I just visited it a while ago and it looked pretty dead. I never actually played it because it put too much strain on my computer for whatever

i always hoped it would get a comeback however because all in all it's pretty damn good, but we all know how the story goes haha ^_^;
