I am not a big drinker, I might have two or three drinks the whole evening, interspaced with glasses of mineral water, and I like the social interaction of meeting friends and meeting new people.
I met five friends last night, three other girls and two guys, and we went to our favourite bar in Finchley, where we have lots of friends among the regulars, and staff. We get involved in the repartee, which is fun, and we talk about issues we have encountered for the week, and debates we have contributed to in some way. It is always fun, and the bar owner does appreciate our society, and our debate, and actually buys rounds for drinkers, to keep the dynamic going.
Last night's debate was about the demonstrations for Palestine, and the fractious rhetoric that is promoting anti-Semitism, with banner statements like 'river to the sea'. It was lively, with some who said they were surprised at the intensity of IDF action, to which many said simply 'what do the terrorists expect?'
I managed to get the last train to Hertford last night, but travelling alone always worries me.
