I didn't know what to do for my first blog, but what better way for people to get to know me better is talk about one of my favorite traditional Mexican dishes!
What is pozole exactly? As I said before, pozole is a traditional Mexican soup or stew that's made from hominy (dried maize - corn - kernels) with meat and can be seasoned with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chili peppers, garlic, onion, radishes (my favorite), avocado, salsa, and good ol' lime!
I've always had pozole ever since I can remember. There's three types of pozole which makes it even better: pozole verde, pozole rojo, and pozole blanco. My mother always makes pozole blanco and my tías make pozole rojo. I don't think I tried pozole verde, or maybe I had but I can't remember when in my life. Pozole is usually make during holidays (ex: Christmas).
Pozole verde is made up of serrano chiles, tomatillos, fresh herbs and toasted pumpkin seeds. For pozole rojo the meat needs to be made with roasted tomatoes and dry guajillo chiles. Finally, for pozole blanco you don't add any chile to the cooking, only red salsa that's added to the broth. All kinds of pozole sound very delicious to me!
I want to try pozole but with shrimp. I'm a big fan of shrimp, I love anything that has shrimp. One of my goals is to try small shrimp pozole!
That's all I'd want to share with everyone. I'm debating if I should make this a series or not. I'm not entirely sure ^^;;;
