behind you, the door closes.
you can still hear the conversations and music muffled through the walls, the vibrations of the bass makes the house quiver.
the chill enraptures you, you're not properly clothed for the late-autumn night.
its when you begin to walk that you feel your intoxication, the unsureness of your footing, your mind seemingly one second behind at all times.
only feet away when you feel the abrupt quietness around you; suddenly you can hear your thoughts again- you wonder when it last was that you last clearly heard a thought inside your head. and the ground beneath your shoes is the most distinct thing you've heard all night, you're beginning to recognize the previous fullness that had just occupied your head.
out in the middle of the empty night, surrounded by dark in all but one direction- the cold bites into you, and you feel the sudden absence of everything but yourself.
you think about how the sky will look tomorrow morning.
the sensation of leaving an ongoing party
