DriveDreams - #1 "Welcome"

"  Welcome to my personal car themed blog, I'm the writer of the blog "Project TiredGas Drift" I'm 17 (so I don't have a driving license) and I have a strong passion for cars.
I particularly like Drift, Rally and Gran Turismo.

My passion for cars was born from a very young age, with the Cars films, with hotwheels and with RC Cars, even as a child I had cars in mind every day, I enjoyed having car meetings with hotwheels, and every evening without fail I watched the DVD of Cars or Cars 2.

This passion faded in middle school (but it was present in little while when Top Gear was broadcast on TV in the afternoons after lunch) , and then returned very strongly in high school thanks to the JDM world, at the beginning of this period my dream car was the Nissan Skyline R33

Over time my passion expanded by watching programs like Top Gear, The Grand Tour etc; watching myriads of videos on YouTube and on reels; watching movies like Fast & Furious, Gran Turismo etc; playing video games like Live For Speed, Gran Turismo 4, Assetto Corsa, Need For Speed Carbon and NFS 2015 etc etc; and European sports cars (especially Italian cars, yes I am patriotic),Rally and GT Championship have been added to JDM and Drift

Then a new car came out, the Toyota GR86, and it was immediately love at first sight, it is such a perfect and "traditionalist" car that it completely adapts to my style, so much so that it became my dream car and still current

This year was an important key to my passion, I went for the first time to the local track (Pista Salentina) and I came to know about a local Drift Team (Salento Drift), and me and two of my friends were there came up with the idea of buying and building a project drift car (which I made a blog with 4 episodes, if you missed it you can catch up on it here) now this project is on "pause" waiting to be resurrected one day.

My goal for the first half of 2024 is to get more in contact with the rally team in my city (Scuderia Casarano Rally Team) and with the local Drift Team (Salento Drift) and do some jobs when the rally takes place in my city (every April) so as to further broaden my knowledge and experience and to get to the heart of this world of motorsport

since I turned 17, the thoughts and responsibilities of my future have arrived, next August I will turn 18 and my absolute priority is to get my driving license immediately, I need to get around independently (yes, I also need lifts to go to the center of my city), to have a car which, in addition to being my means of transport, will be my therapy, to feel free and have fun with my friends and give them a lift etc. etc. etc.
so I will spend the summer working to afford the money for the license and the car and studying and taking the theoretical exam, then once I turn 18 I will take the practical exam and if I have money and the opportunity I will buy my first car

so what will be my first car, good question. I am a "traditionalist" when it comes to cars, so I prefer a car with a manual gearbox and a petrol or diesel engine (preferably petrol) and my "drifter" side wants a rear-wheel drive car, but there are some problems, the first the problem is money, I have to buy the car and maintain it with my own money and I still have to work on it so the car must not be expensive, the second problem is that in Italy there is a stupid law that forbids those who have the license for less than 3 years to drive cars with more than 70kW (an example of a car with 70kW is the Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet 95HP) (yes for me it is a stupid law because I can die by crashing at 100km/h with a Fiat 500 as i can die by crashing at 100km/h with a Ferrari) and rear-wheel drive cars with a maximum of 70kW there are only old cars with less powerful engine versions such as the Alfa Romeo 75 TurboDiesel, BMW e30 316i, Ford Sierra etc. they would be a good idea but I wouldn't want to be seen driving around in a very old car, people would take me for a homeless guy with a criminal record who smokes crack. but I keep these cars as plan B, plan A includes normal cars but with a sporty spirit like the Ford Fiesta MK7 (I can't afford the Ford Fiesta MK8) and the Alfa Romeo MiTo, honestly I have difficulty choosing between these two car but I will definitely know what to choose once the time comes.

Alfa Romeo MiTo & Ford Fiesta MK7

in this blog I will share my adventures and experiences in the car sector, I will talk about my future daily car, I will talk about the events I will participate in and much more; this is just the beginning of a long adventure.

by the way this Saturday (Nov 25) I will go to see the WSE Series (it is a rally event that will take place on the local track) and there will also be a Drift Show by Salento Drift, so probably next blog post will be focused on this.

sorry if I got too long with the discussion and thanks for reading to the end

STAY TUNED
