The difference between the fandom and the thing that has a fandom

It sucks that I can't be a fan of anything (FNaF, vocaloid, My Little Pony, Star Wars, ect) without being compared to the fandom or have mentioned the creators problematic past. Every show, movie, game, or whatever has a weird side to the fandom. That doesn't mean that EVERYONE in the fandom is weird. Just because I like something with a problematic creator doesn't mean I support their actions and beliefs.  Every time I say I like something with a slightly weird fandom, there's going to be at least one person comparing me with the fandom or telling me I support the creator.

No, I'm not a bronie, no, I'm not a proshipper, and no, I'm not like the weird side of the fandom. Please don't just assume things about people because they like something with a weird fandom or bad creator.
