Father dearest,
where did your little girl go?
Brought to tears,
ugly words were thrown.
You knew and sat idly by,
and little by little, that little girl,
went away.
Pehaps your bride,
overstayed her welcome.
perhaps she was just trying to help him,
by sending his only daughter away,
yet he was barely swayed.
Pushed out the door and discarded,
that was when my heart hardened.
So, father dearest!,
if that is your name,
where did you go?
Your sunken eyes,
full of shame,
your sincere profound heart,
burned to the ground,
caught by the wildfire,
and now a shell
of everything you’d ever desire.
so farewell.
Now, my father whom I no longer know,
I wasn't the one who had to go,
I was the one forced to grow.
