I recommend the books if you want fleshed out story for each character atleast more than we have in the movie, the movie does the story pretty good justice though. The anime is an alternative take that shows Ramona and her faults in a more fleshed out and moral grey area than the books do , the game is a fun beat em up with no diffinitve lore outside of the original story and references to its graphic novel but is fun none the less espically with friends.

I never read it but I’m watching the show and I’m pretty sure the show starts off at the beginning so u don’t have to read the original.
